Fatty acid amides are essential for the body as they help in the process of chemical signaling and contribute to balance of the body or homeostasis.

PEA is naturally found in the body, albeit in small quantities which is the reason why it can be taken superficially in case of chronic pain and inflammation. Small amounts of the substance are found in foods such as peanuts, fish, meat, eggs and soya.
